For our trip to the Armory show and Pulse in NY for 2009, I created a standardized uniform or “travelsuits” for the Rinehart School of Sculpture.  By giving up fashion identity, the group was able generate more interest in what we were doing and opened avenues for conversation and interaction.  It also created uniformity in our photographs that made them more asthetically pleaseing and allowed the viewer to concentrate on faces and gestures.  Strangers during the fair and afterwards on the streets engaged us in conversation about our art practice and even asked about how to join our group.

To heighten the viewers awareness of the roll of the gallery space in their perception of sculpture, I adjusted the lighting in the gallery in an aesthetically pleasing manner.  By doing part of the job of the curator, I examined the power of curation and space and how they give gravitas to a work.
